The Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA) invites you to attend our 2nd annual Black Journeys Conference to be held on Friday, April 11th, from 1-3pm in the Bluedorn Family Presentation Room of Sumers Welcome Center.

Black Journeys will bring the WashU community together to recognize the personal and academic journeys of Black graduate students through:

Black Journeys Overview

Black Journeys is centered around increasing the recognition of Black graduate students at WashU. To further these efforts, BGSA invited the WashU community to nominate Black graduate students to share about their personal and/or academic journeys towards graduate education. We’re excited to announce the graduate students who will be participating in Black Journeys:

Academic Showcases

During Black Journeys, participants will showcase the work relevant to their graduate studies. This work is not limited to “graduate-level research.” Instead, these showcases will encompass the wide variety of graduate work done across the university.


Event Overview

  • 1:00-1:15pm: Remarks from BGSA about “Recognizing Black Graduate Students”
  • 1:15-2:30pm: Black Journeys Programming
  • 2:30-2:40pm: Break
  • 2:40-3:00pm: Keynote Presentation from Dr. Seanna Leath
